Chinese Chica?? What *is* this bead??

So there's a bit of a story behind this bead... while vacationing in Arizona I chanced upon a little bead shop. I *always* stop for a bead shop whenever I come upon one! There was this unique little bead that looked like chicklets only larger. It was labeled Chinese chica and I'm sure that's just a nickname and that it's some sort of jasper stone. On coming home to research this unique find, there's no Chinese chica bead reference anywhere that I've looked and I've looked through every jasper and picture I could find. (if you recognize this bead please let me know!)

So for me, this is truly a unique, one of a kind, never to be repeated design - at least for now... Of course I have a necklace and earring set for myself of a different design than this and almost hesitate to part with this beautiful and unique set!
